What is Amazon Alexa and how does it work?
Amazon Alexa is a virtual assistant that’s been around since 2014. It can be found in many different devices, including the Amazon Echo and other smart speakers. Alexa has thousands of skills—skills are essentially apps that you can enable on your device. You can ask Alexa to do almost anything, from ordering pizza to playing music, setting timers and alarms, checking the weather, controlling smart home devices like lights and thermostats, calling friends or family members, getting traffic updates, or even reading audiobooks!
Alexa is available in English (U.S., U.K., India), German (Germany), French (France), Italian (Italy), Spanish (Spain), Dutch (Netherlands), Danish (Denmark), Norwegian (Norway), Swedish (Sweden), Polish (Poland), Turkish (Turkey).
You can ask questions just by saying “Alexa” followed by your question. For example: “Alexa, what time is it?” Or “Alexa, play some jazz music.”
